European shipping giant Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB) has launched the first hydrogen (H2)-powered passenger vessel, Hydroville.
Having successfully completed her sea trials and received the Certificae of Class from Lloyd’s Register earlier in November, Hydroville is the first passenger shuttle that uses H2 to power a diesel engine.
CMB said the shuttle will mainly be used as a platform to test H2 technology for commercial seagoing vessels.
