Switzerland-based direct air capture (DAC) specialist Climeworks has revealed its latest technological innovation to scale up to megatonne capacity.
To be deployed initially in the US, the so-called Generation 3 technology will be deployed globally on ‘secured project sites’, with its design having been developed and validated over the past five years.
Located in Louisiana as part of the megatonne scale Project Cypress DAC Hub, the first plant to use Gen 3 technology will be funded by the US Department of Energy, with construction set to begin in 2026.
