Swiss direct air capture (DAC) company Climeworks has raised $75m in equity from private investors, marking the largest private investment into DAC to date.
Climeworks’ patented technology captures CO2 directly from the air using clean energy, thereby offering a pure CO2 removal solution.
The new capital will be used to expand the Climeworks’ CO2 removal capacities, help to further scale and optimise DAC technology and make the technology more accessible.
