Experienced engineer Helin Cox has been appointed Chief Technology Officer of Climeworks, the Swiss direct air capture (DAC) company.
Cox joins Climeworks from energy process and licensing company Honeywell UOP, where she served as Senior Director of Technology Development.
Her expertise in technology commercialisation, industrial scale-up and R&D portfolio construction will enable Climeworks to grow its DAC technology, which is the core offering of its carbon removal portfolio.
She will lead a unit of 150 engineers and scientists, validating and advancing the most promising filter materials, process designs, equipment, and operational approaches to DAC, as well as overseeing testing from lab to large-scale facilities.
Jan Wurzbacher, co-founder and Co-CEO of Climeworks, hailed the appointment and said Cox has consistently driven innovation across the full spectrum of technology readiness from early R&D to commercial deployment.
Last month Climeworks signed carbon removal agreements with Tik Tok and Two Drifters Distillery.
