Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has signed a deal to acquire a majority share in one of Denmark’s largest biogas plants, Sindal Biogas, located in Northern Jutland, and carry out a triple-digit-million upgrade on the facility.
The investment firm will work with two other partners, KK Invest and DBC Invest, on the project that hopes to expand the plant’s capacity to process 500,000 tonnes of biomass annually with an intended production of upgraded biogas for the gas grid of up to 34 million cubic meters.
In addition to its extended biomass capacity, the plant will also produce biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2), which will be captured, stored, and/or utilised in the green energy transition.
The work is one of many expansions that have taken place at Sindal Biogas.
