Chart Industries to equip Argent LNG’s Louisiana facility

US cryogenic equipment manufacturer Chart Industries will supply its mid-scale modular liquefaction solution for Argent LNG’s facility in Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

Chart’s integrated pre-cooled single mixed refrigerant (IPSMR®) process technology is at the heart of the liquefaction solution and will allow Argent LNG to tailor its liquefaction systems to site-specific conditions.

The capability matches that of gas turbine power with a single cold box capacity, ensuring maximum operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Jonathan Bass, CEO at Argent LNG, said he is excited to partner with Chart on the project.

He continued, “IPSMR® technology’s superior performance will empower us to optimise operations and deliver a compelling, competitive solution to the market, which is scheduled to come online in 2029/2023.”

Chart has started the engineering work related to the project and hopes to book an IPSMR® technology and equipment order in 2025.

In conjunction with its contract with Chart, Argent LNG has also confirmed its selection of global engineering company Worley as its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and development partner for the project.

Under terms of an agreement, Worley will initiate the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) process with Argent and move into the pre-FEED phase where greater definition of the development will be achieved.

Worley’s services will be delivered through its Houston and Baton Rouge offices while leveraging global LNG subject matter expertise.

Argent LNG facility in Louisiana spans 143 acres and will produce up to 20 million tonnes per annum of LNG per year at full capacity.
