Chart Industries will supply the hydrogen liquefaction, storage, and handling equipment for one of California’s largest green hydrogen projects, set to produce over 20,000 tonnes of renewable green hydrogen annually.
The US cryogenic equipment manufacturer was awarded the contract from Element Resources for its Lancaster Clean Energy Centre (LCEC), which it hopes to have up and running in 2026.
Once operational, the site will operate off-grid, using dedicated photovoltaic solar to power Element’s electrolysers to produce hydrogen for mobility and manufacturing use.
Steve Meheen, CEO of Element Resources, said he is pleased to have reached an agreement with Chart Industries for the hydrogen handling equipment and systems downstream of the electrolysers through loading for distribution.
