Construction is underway on a state of the art manufacturing facility in Changzhou, China.
The development will be completed over two stages. The end result will be a 25,000 square-meter-plant that covers 17 acres. The first phase of the project is due for completion in September 2005 and will deliver 12,000 square meters, which will triple their current capacity in China.
Chart’s supply of equipment is currently expanding at a rate of 15-20% per year, making it the largest market for new capital in industrial gas. Once the facility is operational, Chart expects to use this new capital to supply the expanding Asian market directly with its range of cryogenic products.
Commenting on the new expansion, Eric Rottier President of Chart Asia said,Chart's expansion in Changzhou, China represents an extensive commitment to our customers and will give Chart the opportunity to expand our product offering. We intend to manufacture a broad range of products in China in the next 5 years. The new facility will be our supply and R&D centre for our China and Asia customers.
