CEMEX and Carbon Upcycling are working together to improve the processing of residue or by-products of industrial processes by capturing CO2 emissions to produce nanomaterials.
The two companies today (3rd Nov) signed an agreement for the partnership which will allow the production of concretes with a low carbon footprint, meeting the construction industry’s strictest requirements.
As part of the agreement, the companies will capture CO2 emissions from waste and by-products, like fly ash and slags, from a CEMEX facility. Carbon Upcycling technology will then be used to transform the residues into low carbon cement.
Gonzalo Galindo, Head of CEMEX Ventures, said, “This agreement with Carbon Upcycling is yet another example of our determination to deliver net-zero CO2 concrete products globally by 2050.”
