Cedar LNG, a proposed floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, has given the green light to start engineering and construction work following the signing of several long-term sales deals.
The news marks a critical milestone in getting financing in place before a final investment decision can be made to go ahead with the project, which is expected in mid-2024.
Cedar LNG brings together the Haisla Nation and Pembina Pipeline Corporation.
Crystal Smith, Chief Councillor for Haisla Nation, described the latest update as an exciting time for the nation as it seeks to make Cedar LNG a reality in the coming months.
