Carburos Médica, the hospital division of Air Products subsidiary Carburos Metálicos, has become the only gas company in Spain formally authorised to sell gas for pulmonary diffusion.
After obtaining the relevant marketing authorisation from the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Healthcare Products (AEMPS), the wholly-owned subsidiary has rolled out Apulco® – its new range of medical gases.

The series is composed of five gas mixtures which are typically used for diagnostic functional tests: The Apulco He and Apulco HeOxy mixtures analyse lung capacity, the Apulco CoHe and Apulco CoHeMax tests diffusion capacity and transfer factor, and Apulco Acometh analyses diffusing capacity, lung volume and pulmonary bloody flow as additional parameters.
Under this new product line, Carburos Metálicos aims to expand its portfolio of gas technology used in the hospital market and consolidate its leadership position in supplying gases and services to the sector.
