Plans have been unveiled for large-scale offshore carbon capture, transport, and storage hub in Louisiana, spanning a 24,000-acre tract of land in state waters, offshore Cameron Parish.
Carbonvert and Castex Carbon Solutions have partnered to explore the feasibility of the hub that could have capacity to store more than 250 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2).
If developed, the Cameron Parish CO2 hub would serve the region’s high number of existing industrial emitters and anticipated greenfield projects, such as its ammonia and LNG sites.
The partners are also exploring the possibility of repurposing existing pipeline infrastructure in the region to transport the captured CO2, opening a number of additional opportunities.
