Capsol Technologies has been awarded a feasibility study by SUEZ for an energy-from-waste (EfW) plant in France.
The new plant, which will feature carbon capture and storage (CCS) at an undisclosed location in northern France, aims to capture more than 150,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, of which approximately 50% of the CO2 is biogenic, enabling negative emissions.
The purpose of the study is to obtain key technical and cost inputs for further development of the carbon capture solution for the EfW plant.
SUEZ, which recovers more than 5 million tonnes of waste each year, turning it into 7.3 TWh of energy, is targeting Net Zero by 2050, including a target of reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 46% by 2030.
