Canada’s Core Gases acquires Cobourg Welding Supply in Eastern Ontario

Canadian independent industrial gas distributor Core Gases has acquired Cobourg Welding Supply, a welding equipment and industrial gas business.

The purchase will strengthen Core Gases’ presence in Eastern Ontario. The company currently has four facilities in the Canadian province, with its headquarters being in Ajax.

In Canada, independent industrial gas distributors only represent around 3% of the country’s industrial gas market, according to gasworld Intelligence.

Ben Ciceri, CEO of Core Industrial Gases, said that Cobourg Welding Supply’s values aligned with those at Core Gases and he welcomed its team into the organisation.

“Cobourg Welding Supply has earned the trust of its customers by staying local [and] responsive, and providing expert support,” he added.

In the upcoming May issue of gasworld US, we interview Ciceri about the challenges and opportunities in Canada’s independent gas distribution market and how Core Gases is capitalising.

Ciceri tells us more about the company’s automated fill plant, its new e-commerce offering, and its growth plans. Look out for this forthcoming feature.
