Californian winery Opus One Winery has deployed Chart Industries’ carbon capture solutions to carbon dioxide (CO2) during red wine fermentation.
Specifically, Opus One has deployed Earthly Labs’ CiCi (Oak) solution. In 2022, Opus One first deployed the Cici (Oak) carbon capture solution during the grape harvest to capture the waste CO2 emitted during the wine fermentation process.
This harvest, Opus One expanded its CiCi technology implementation to capture 100% more CO2 than in the previous year by incorporating additional fermentation tanks into the programme.
The expanded process will meet Opus One’s onsite dry ice needs and reduce associated emissions. Additionally, Opus One will pilot the upgraded visualisation dashboard using the Chart Howden Uptime platform.
