Brazil has signaled its intent to go green, with the recent launch of the first hydrogen fuel cell bus in Sao Paulo’s urban transportation system.
The new ‘clean’ bus is expected to reduce pollution in the heavily populated Sao Paulo area and is further proof of the growing enthusiasm for fuel cell vehicles in Latin America.
The city’s transport system launched the first of up to five hydrogen buses, using a hybrid system that combines the ‘green’ intent of hydrogen fuel cells with high power batteries.
The vehicle can be driven 300km on the hydrogen cell alone and an additional 50km on its batteries.
