BOC, the UK’s largest supplier of industrial gases, and the team behind Aberdeen’s Hydrogen Bus Project have been nominated for a Scottish Transport Award.
The member of The Linde Group, along with Aberdeen City Council and other partner organisations involved in the project team, have made the shortlist for the Transport Team/Partnership of the Year award.
BOC’s hydrogen (H2) production and refuelling station used to fuel the project in the Scottish city is the largest of its kind in the UK and has refuelled the bus fleet more than 1,600 times.
This successful public-private partnership project provides a clear demonstration of the viability of H2 as a reliable, carbon-free zero emission fuel
Back in 2013, Aberdeen City Council launched the 2020 strategy framework, ‘A H2 Economy for Aberdeen City Region,’ in which it aimed to be a world class energy hub leading the way towards a low carbon economy.
