In response to the shortages of medical oxygen, caused by the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has started to manufacture medical oxygen plants in India.
Announcing its move today (July 5), the company said it has developed its first medical oxygen plant using CSIR-IIP technology for SLG Hospitals in Hyderabad. The plant was delivered in less than 35 days from receipt of order.
Having delivered the first plant, BHEL has now signed an agreement with CSIR-IIP for the transfer of technology for medical oxygen plants of 500LPM and higher using pressure vacuum swing adsorption technology.
The agreement includes the development and deployment of 500 LMP medical oxygen plants and design upscaling to 1000 LPM and more. Deployment of the plants will further supplement the efforts initiated by the company during the second wave of Covid 19 towards supply of medical oxygen.
