Ship management services company Bernhard Schulte has ordered its first carbon dioxide (CO2) tanker to support cross-border CO2 transportation and storage.
Confirmed today (14th December), the order will see Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore (DSOC) construct the vessel with a cargo capacity of 7,300m3.
The ships will be custom-built for the transportation of liquefied CO2 from the Northern Lights project to customers across Northwest Europe.
Northern Lights is a joint venture owned by Shell, TotalEnergies and Equinor. The joint venture has already ordered three vessels, two already under construction at DSOC and another ordered in September this year.
