US energy technology company Baker Hughes will supply QatarEnergy with two main refrigerant compressors for the North Field South (NFS) LNG project.
The compressors are part of the two LNG “mega trains” representing 16 million tonnes per annum of additional capacity that will boost the site’s total production to 126 million tonnes per annum.
It is hoped the project will make Qatar a leading in global LNG production by 2027.
Lorenzo Simonelli, Chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, notes that LNG will enable the energy transition by acting as a more reliable, affordable and flexible energy source alongside other renewables and hydrogen.
