Baker Hughes lands largest integrated compressor line order

Baker Hughes has received its largest order of integrated compressor line (ICL) units from Dubai Petroleum Establishment (DPE), on behalf of Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP).

The order comprises 10 ICL units, five for gas storage and five for dual-use injection boosting or gas export to the existing gas distribution system.

They will be installed at the Margham Gas storage facility in Dubai, significantly increasing its capacity.

The project aims to achieve a high-reliability system with reduced emissions, and provides stability to Dubai’s energy supply by strengthening the system’s ability to switch between natural gas and solar power.

Ganesh Ramaswamy, Executive Vice-President of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes, said ICL technology is set to be critical to support the gas infrastructure needed to address Dubai’s increasing expansion of renewables into its energy mix.

He said, “This landmark order underscores the proven track record we have built in the market for our low-carbon solutions.” DPE has had three ICL units in operation since 2020.

The company claims the units offer ‘zero seal leakages and minimal downtime required for maintenance’.

Digital CCUS solution

Last month Baker Hughes launched CarbonEdge™, powered by Cordant™, positioned as the first end-to-end, risk-based digital solution for CCUS operations that provides comprehensive support for regulatory reporting and operational risk management.

With an intuitive, integrated dashboard, customers receive precise, real-time data and alerts on carbon dioxide (CO2) flows across CCUS infrastructure, from carbon capture and compression to pipeline transportation, as well as subsurface storage.

The connectivity across the entire CCUS project lifecycle helps identify and manage risk, improve decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, and simplify regulatory reporting, according to a statement.

MENA Industrial Gases Conference

In 2024, the Middle East & North Africa region home to both an enviable climate in renewable resources and investment and a bold vision in decarbonisation, green energy and industrial value chains.

From Saudi Arabia to Qatar, the UAE to Oman, and Mauritania to Morocco, there are promising gas and energy ecosystems-in-the-making. Vision 2030 is the mantra, and global leadership the goal.

But how can a vision for 2030 translate to a vision for industrial gas and equipment growth?

Join gasworld in November 2024 as its MENA Industrial Gases Conference 2024 returns to Abu Dhabi.
