Australian and New Zealand supermarkets and consumers are experiencing the harsh end of carbon dioxide (CO2) shortages currently impacting the countries’ supply chains.
Photos of empty shelves and low-level stocks circulating social media indicate the severity of the supply situation.
In a statement to Australian media, BOC Linde said due to many current issues impacting international freight, supply has been impacted, except for critical medical, safety and water treatment customers.
The Australia New Zealand Industrial Gas Association (ANZIGA) warned of a “fragile” situation last July, which has since been exacerbated by geopolitics, inflation, cost pressures, environmental transparency and compliance.
