ASCO Carbon Dioxide Ltd has recently put its dry ice blasting technology to good effect in the restoration of a historic steam locomotive to the ‘brilliance’ of its former glories.
The Swiss company offers a wide range of ASCOJET dry ice blasting units which allow a gentle and highly efficient cleaning for countless surfaces.
ASCO, together with WISAG Production Services GmbH in Donaueschingen (Germany), put this technology to good use on a historic steam locomotive and ‘whipping’ it back into shape for museum display.
The train, Germany’s last steam locomotive and part of the regular railway operation until 1994, was restored aesthetically with one of ASCO’s ASCOJET dry ice blasting units. WISAG supplied the required dry ice, produced in its own in-house dry ice production facility.
