Japanese technology company Asahi Kasei will launch a trial to demonstrate a new rental service for chlor-alkali electrolysis cells in Europe.
To be undertaken alongside chlor-alkali specialist Nobian and logistics firm LOGISTEED Europe B.V (LOGISTEED), the project aims to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by lowering power consumption in the electrolysis process.
By electrolysing brine using ion-exchange membranes, the process for chlor-alkali electrolysis produces chlorine, hydrogen and caustic soda.
