Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has announced plans for a semiconductor-focused workforce training facility that will offer hands-on training in support of the developing semiconductor.
Launched in partnership with industry, education, and government leaders, the Future48 Workforce Accelerator at GateWay Community College in Phoenix will feature a full-size mock clean room with 11 customisable modular stations.
At the facility, students will learn the basics of semiconductor processing, including cleaning, probing, photolithography, and automated handling. The site will also offer training in maintenance, programming, and integration techniques involving robotic applications and industry devices.
The semiconductor training facility is being supported by $22.5m of funding from the Arizona Commerce Authority, Governor’s Office, and federal appropriations led by Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema.
