One of the largest building materials manufacturers, Anhui Conch Group, has successfully recovered CO2 from the exhaust gas of the cement kilns at its Baimashan Cement Plant in Wuhu city, Anhui province.
The cement kiln exhaust gas CO2 capture system and purification device took one year to construct. The trial production finally started in late October this year and the purity of the industrial grade products reached 99.99%. Annual production of around 50,000 tonnes is expected.
The company also claims the successful commissioning of the CO2 capture and purification system has marked the first example of carbon recovery in the cement industry, and has a far-reaching significance in the energy saving and environment protection of the cement industry both in China and in the world.
