Last week, gasworld reported that carbon dioxide (CO2) production at the Jackson Dome in Mississippi is declining on a month-by-month basis, but is this a problem we should have seen coming?
Between January 2024 and June 2024 – the most up-to-date figures published by the Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board (MSOGB) – CO2 production at the Jackson Dome had fallen 37%.
The reason for this drop is believed to be due to oil and gas major ExxonMobil purchasing the Jackson Dome as part of its wider $4.9bn acquisition of Denbury.
