Amtrol-Alfa was founded in 1962 in Guimarães, north of Portugal, with the name of Petróleo Mecânica Alfa, at the time manufacturing cylinders for the LPG industry. In 1990, the company was merged with Comanor, creating the Comanor-Alfa group.
The final step in this snapshot of succession came in 1997, when Amtrol, Inc. acquired the company and changed its name to Amtrol-Alfa, Metalomecânica, SA.
The company has constantly expanded its product categories and production capacity, exporting to more than 100 countries from its 80,000m2 facilities and six different autonomous production lines.
