Amogy and Marco Polo are to collaborate on a zero-emission solution for Marco Polo’s offshore wind fleet.
To facilitate this transition, Amogy’s ammonia-to-power systems will be fitted to Marco Polo’s existing, or under construction fleet of wind vessels. The switch to ammonia power will permit the vessels to operate without generating emissions.
The agreement will also allow Amogy to fine-tune its ammonia energy systems powering wind ship vessels such as Commissioning Service Vessels (CSOVs) and Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) These are crucial support vessels in the offshore wind industry, and the adoption of ammonia power would see a significant decrease in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions from such vessels.
Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy, said, “We’re delighted to work with a respected and innovative maritime operator that shares our bold vision for a greener and more sustainable future. We hope that our partnership with Marco Polo can serve as a powerful example for other maritime operators.”
