Aker is ready to deliver two turnkey Carbon Capture utlisation and storage units (CCUS) to Norway and the Netherlands.
Aker Carbon Capture will supply one of their JustCatch plants to Twence’s waste-to-energy plants in Hengelo in the Netherlands, and another to the cement facility at Brevik, Norway.
The company specialises in carbon capture in hard-to-abate industries such as cement, waste-to-energy, gas-to-power, and steel production. Aker’s CCU solution uses a biodegradable mixture of water and amine solvent to absorb the carbon dioxide (CO2).
At Hengelo, the plant will reduce CO2 emissions produced by the incineration of non-recyclable waste. The captured CO2 in liquid form will then be used to heat horticultural greenhouses. The project will aim to capture 100,000 tonnes of CO2 per year from the end of 2023. Aker is working with Microsoft and Siemens Energy with both projects.
