Aker Carbon Capture and Aker Solutions have signed a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract to incorporate carbon capture technology at Hafslund Oslo Celsio’s waste-to-energy site at Klemetsrud in Oslo, Norway.
Under terms of the FEED contract, Aker will deploy its Just Catch 400 unit, designed to capture up to 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year. The solution is fitted with the Advanced Carbon Capture™ process, which provides differentiating environmental performance.
Celsio’s waste-to-energy facility set to receive the technology is currently the largest carbon emitter in Oso and is responsible for 17% of the capital’s fossil carbon emissions. The facility treats household waste and waste from industry and enterprises.
Waste treated at the facility consists of approximately 50 % biogenic CO2, enabling the delivery of negative emissions. Aker Carbon Capture is in the final stages of delivering Just Catch 100 at the Twence waste-to-energy facility in the Netherlands.
