Aker Carbon Capture and Aramco have signed a two-year deal to explore carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and industrial modularisation partnership opportunities in Saudi Arabia.
Under terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today (13th July), the parties will focus on carbon emissions reduction and removal solutions to help achieve Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s Net Zero 2060 goal.
The MoU is also a potential first step for Aker Carbon Capture in the Middle East.
Egil Fagerland, CEO of Aker Carbon Capture, notes that the region wants to reduce CO2 emissions by 670 million tonnes per annum through the Middle East Green Initiative.
