Aker Carbon Capture and CO280 Solutions have today (25th March) confirmed plans to develop multiple large-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) removal projects to decarbonise the pulp and paper industry.
Under terms of a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the duo will identify preferred partners on a project-by-project basis for point source carbon capture plants.
Supplying the technology, Aker Carbon Capture will deploy its Just Catch CO2 capture units for the permanent storage of CO2. Over time, the parties will then work towards developing a standardised solution for the effort.
Jonathan Rhone, CEO of CO280, said that capturing and sequestering biogenic CO2 from pulp and paper mills can help scale-up the CO2 removal market, decarbonise the pulp and paper industry, and have a positive impact on the environment.
