The University of Missouri, one of North America’s largest and most prestigious public research universities, has entered into a $1m supply agreement with Arigas, Inc.
Under the contract, Airgas will provide speciality gases, equipment, safety products and services to the university system which incorporates campuses in Columbia, Kansas City and St Louis, Missouri, as well as the Missouri University of Science & technology in Rolla, Missouri. The agreement will secure estimated annual sales of $1m and was facilitated by Airgas’ and the University’s affiliation with E&I Co-operative Purchasing.
David Silvey, Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist for the University of Missouri, commented, “Airgas’ unique e-procurement capabilities will provide a seamless integration with our systems, enabling the university to operate at optimum efficiency and maximise budgets. Keeping our laboratories and other University areas appropriately supplied with the right inventory can be challenging. Through our partnership with Airgas, we’ll benefit from out customised e-Business solution, ‘Show Me Shop’, the University’s system-wide e-procurement system.”
Todd Morris, Airgas Director for Laboratory Markets, responded, “We are pleased to be partnering with the University of Missouri to help optimise their overall purchasing process and track spending through more effective supply chain management.” Morris concluded, “To meet these goals, we are implementing a SciQuest interface with their e-procurement system and we are putting our AIM™ (Airgas Inventory Management) programs in place at the university. All of this will streamline the supply chain and deliver total cost reduction.”
The University of Missouri System was founded in 1839 and has a philosophy of education that is shaped from the ideals of Thomas Jefferson. Today, the institution houses nearly 70,000 students on four campuses and still more state-wide through the University of Missouri Extension and the University of Missouri Health System.
