Air Products has reportedly suspended construction on its second energy from waste project (TV2) in the UK.
The TV2 project, an innovative renewable energy facility based upon advanced plasma gasification technology, is located in Tees Valley in the Northeast of England along with the original TV1 facility.
Today’s news leaves 700 contractor employees temporarily dismissed for an as yet unknown duration, a situation described by the UK union for engineering and construction workers GMB as ‘appalling’.
According to a copy of an Air Products media statement sent to gasworld, the decision comes amidst advances in construction technologies/practices on TV1, with deferment of construction on TV2 allowing the company to apply any identified improvements in a cost-effective way when work does resume.
