Air Products has announced a successful contract extension with Barrick Goldstrike, to continue to operate and maintain an oxygen plant at the company’s mine in Elko, Nevada.
As part of the deal, Air Products will also upgrade the existing oxygen plant to support the planned increase in gold production, whilst also helping to reduce the environmental impact of the refining process.
Victoria Brifo, Vice-President of Equipment Sales, Plant Support and Central Procurement at Air Products, expressed, “We are honoured by Barrick’s continued trust in our ability to not only successfully run this critical operation for them, but implement changes in process equipment and technology that will improve their overall operation. This project is a great example of how we strive to exceed our customers’ expectations by working closely with them to understand their operations and develop solutions that meet their changing needs.”
The original oxygen plant has a capacity of 1,100 tonnes per day (tpd) and features a liquefier for back-up purposes.
