In a bid to support increasing demand, Air Products has announced it will increase its nitrogen (N2) production to serve an existing customer’s semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek City.
The US-based corporation first obtained the major contract in 2015 to supply its industrial bulk gases and bulk specialty gas supply system to the semiconductor fab in Gyeonggi Province. This latest development is the second phase of the capacity expansion contract to supply the semiconductor fab.
Under the contract, of which financial details were not disclosed, Air Products is undertaking a multi-phase expansion project involving multiple ultra-high-purity N2 plants, hydrogen (H2) generators and a liquefier.
Kyo-Yung Kim, President of Air Products Korea, said that this latest expansion represents Air Products’ commitment to growing together with customers in the expanding region through continued investment.
