Air Products has been awarded a long-term contract with leading glass making company KCC Corporation to supply oxygen (O2) to its new glass wool production line at its Gimcheon facility, South Korea.
Under the deal, the Tier One corporation will install a PRISM® vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) O2 generator at the Gimcheon site to supply on-site gaseous O2 to the furnace for full oxy-fuel combustion. This technology has been proven to make glass manufacturing a cleaner process.
Oxy-fuel technology can deliver a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions as well as 10-20% in energy savings, a 25% increase in productivity and an overall improvement in efficiency and glass quality, when compared to using traditional air-fed burners.
Although financial details of the deal were not disclosed, the new production line is scheduled to come on-stream in 2017.
