Air Liquide will supply its large-scale carbon dioxide (CO2) liquefaction technology to a Stockholm-based plant that aims to liquefy and store around eight million tonnes of biogenic CO2 over the first 10 years of operation.
The industrial gas giant today (17th July) said that it will supply Stockholm Exergi’s bioenergy carbon capture and storage (BECCS) project with its Cryocap™ LQ technology unit.
With a capacity of 3,500 tonnes per day, the CryoCap™ LQ technology will liquefy and transport CO2 over long distances to carbon sinks for permanent storage.
Stockholm Exergi’s calculations show that there is potential to capture 800,000 tonnes of CO2 per year at its bio-cogeneration plant in the Värtan area of Stockholm.
