Industrial gas major Air Liquide could reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 38,000 tonnes per year having inked its first-ever virtual power purchase agreement (PPA).
Signed with Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy, Statkraft, the deal allows for the supply of renewable energy certificates from Polish wind farms linked to newly installed renewable production capacity.
The emissions will be reduced from Air Liquide’s customers in Poland by using industrial gases with a lower carbon footprint.
The agreement aligns with the country’s target to reach at least 23% share of renewable energies in final energy consumption in 2023.
