Air Liquide and public transport agency Foothill Transit will deploy an operational advanced hydrogen mobile fueller (AHMF) in Pomona, California, to encourage the adoption of hydrogen for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
Believed to be the first deployment of its kind, the mobile refuelling station is fully integrated onto a 45-foot split axle trailer and features sustainable, cryogenic cooling technology to store renewable energy as cryogenic liquids. It uses liquid nitrogen in place of electricity for processing cooling to perform fast hydrogen fuelling.
Hydrogen distributed by the unit will be supplied by Air Liquide’s largest liquid hydrogen production plant that is based in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
