Air Liquide has renewed its agreement with Dow to supply industrial gases for one of the largest chemical production sites in Lower Saxony, Germany.
As part of the renewal, Air Liquide will invest nearly €40m ($43m) to modernise two air gas separation units (ASUs) and a partial oxidation unit (POX) at the site.
The company also aims to integrate a carbon dioxide (CO2) recycling solution to the POX, which will enable circular use of the CO2 produced. According to Air Liquide, this will increase energy efficiency by around 15%, leading to emission reductions of approximately 15,000 tonnes per year – 80% of the site’s direct CO2 emissions.
