Industrial gas major Air Liquide has achieved a milestone in small-scale gas supply having delivered a record 62 new small gas production units at its customers sites in the industrial merchant and electronics sectors in 2023.
This growth reflects the constant demand for staple gases such as nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen in the metallurgy, chemical and automotive industries as well as the ever increasing need for specialty gases driven by strong trends around AI, digitisation and the Internet of Things.
For the wider electronics industry, Air Liquide supplies ultra-pure gases necessary to create the inert atmosphere needed to produce semiconductors, photovoltaic cells and highly sensitive printed circuit boards.
According to the company, the small on-site gas production units are installed directly on customer sites, eliminating the need to liquefy gases for their transportation and reducing the number of trucks and mileage needed to deliver to customers.
