Since 2013, industrial gas company Air Liquide has utilised its venture capital fund ALIAD to strengthen investments in innovative impact start-ups to meet environmental and societal challenges.
Having made more than 40 investments since its creation, ALIAD has invested over €25m since 2020 including €15m in the field of energy transition.
The investments also contribute to the Groups’ strategic programme ADVANCE, which aims to combine growth and building a sustainable future – as illustrated by ALIAD’s latest start-up investments.
By taking a stake in Belgian indoor vertical farming start-up Botalys as part of a €6.6m financing round, ALIAD will aid in the scaling-up of the company’s innovative soil-less vertical farming technology, allowing it to produce bioactive botanical ingredients that can be used for the cosmetics, food supplement and pharmaceutical industries.
