Industrial gas major Air Liquide is to advance the potential of Europe’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain following its entry into a joint venture with maritime transport firm Sogestran.
Announced today (March 5th), the agreement aims to provide shipping solutions to aid with the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors.
With Air Liquide heading up the carbon management value chain with capture, aggregation, and processing, Sogestran will take advantage of newly designed shipping and barging solutions to transport liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2).
Commenting on the partnership, Emilie Mouren-Renouard, Executive Committee member, Air Liquide, said, “This initiative complements our carbon management technologies to support our industrial customers in their decarbonisation strategies and illustrates Air Liquide’s commitment to actively contribute to the emergence of a low carbon society.”
