Air Liquide Healthcare is pleased to introduce aerALin™, Canada’s first parametric batch release quality control system designed for hospitals producing medical air on-site.
Designed as a plug and play addition to existing medical air compressor plants, aerALin™ improves patient safety by ensuring only quality validated medical air is distributed through hospital pipelines.
Medical air USP is a drug regulated by Health Canada, and its use is widespread throughout hospitals. Medical air is integral to many aerosol drug therapies, treating newborns with respiratory difficulties, certain forms of patient ventilation, hyperbaric treatments, and is often used in the operating room in anesthesia protocols.
The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) specifies the quality of medical air for therapeutic use. The USP monograph limits a number of contaminants, including those common to outdoor air pollution such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and sulphur dioxide. The National Building Code of Canada mandates that when distributed through hospital pipelines, the owner of the healthcare facility must ensure they are putting medical air USP into the pipeline.
