Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions, the engineering and construction business of Air Liquide, has been contracted by Grannus, LLC, to provide hydrogen (H2) production infrastructure at its advanced ammonia plant in California.
The Tier One player will provide technology and engineering services, including a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) unit to produce high-purity H2 for the Grannus plant, which features a patented, ultra-low nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission natural gas to ammonia process.
Under the agreement, of which financial details were not disclosed, the unit will also licence oxygen (O2) based Lurgi GasPOX technology and associated gas clean-up technologies.
The Grannus plant, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2019, will be the first ammonia facility to be built in California in more than 60 years and will produce around 250 tonnes of ammonia per day – approximately 40% of the total agricultural consumption in the US state.
