The UK’s thriving manufacturing industry was a “key driver”, for the ENERGAS and ENGWELD deal, due to a 2.2% growth in 2011 – which represents 11.5% of GDP.
Air Liquide has an established a presence in the UK, principally through the supply of Bulk, Packaged and Specialty Gases to a broad spectrum of manufacturing industries as well as for technology, science, research and leisure applications. ENERGAS & ENGWELD were founded in 1960 by Alf Robinson.
Over the years, under continuous family ownership and management, headed up by Mike Robinson, both entities have been successfully developed into well-established, independent suppliers of Packaged Gases, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, and Welding and Engineering Equipment/Consumables. With headquarters in Hull, they operate several sites in the UK. They employ 208 employees, with total 2011 sales of £35 million from a wide and diverse customer base.
