Specialty chemical and gases management expert A-Gas has announced plans to invest in excess of £1m ($1.3m) in a new refrigerant separator.
The corporation cites the growing concern around the high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants restriction due to recently adjusted F-Gas regulations as the reason behind the significant investment.
The new refrigerant separator will be installed at its Portbury plant near Bristol, UK in the second half of 2017 and will more than double the company’s reclamation capacity at its Portbury site. The new apparatus will run alongside A-Gas’ existing separator and will enable the reclamation of mixed refrigerants received from customers across Europe.
“It highlights our commitment to providing the industry with the necessary capacity and infrastructure to support the F-Gas phasedown”

John Ormerod, Managing Director of A-Gas, signified, “Supplies of reclaimed refrigerant are crucial to ensure that there is enough gas on the market to meet demand. We are already seeing changes in market patterns and as a major supplier of refrigerants we have to respond to this.”
