Ballance Agri-Nutrients and Hiringa Energy have confirmed a joint development agreement for a $50m clean-tech project in Taranaki to produce green hydrogen using renewable energy.
The project will be based at Ballance’s Kapuni ammonia-urea plant and is seen as a catalyst for the development of a sustainable green hydrogen market in New Zealand to fuel heavy transport.
The renewable hydrogen hub will consist of both renewable energy and hydrogen production.The project brings together hydrogen technology and the specialist technical capabilities in the region to leverage existing infrastructure for the benefit of New Zealand.
